About Open Bolt

Open Bolt lets you search NOAA GOES-R Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM) Level 2 flash data by location and time. The site is a free personal project.

Lightning detections come from U.S. government public domain satellite data hosted on AWS. GLM covers the Americas and nearby oceans (not Europe, Africa, or most of Asia), to about 55°N latitude.
